Time for Healthy Eating

Now that I seem to have the exercise under control, it is time to have a good, hard look at what I'm eating.
However, just like the exercise dvds the choice of different diets is unbelievable.

There are diets where you count calories or points, diets that last for 3 days, diets that don't include any carbs and even diets that don't include any food!
But what I have decided to do is just adopt a healthy way of eating that I can follow for the rest of my life, rather than go for a quick fix.
After all, it's not rocket science, if I eat less fatty, junk food and exercise more I will lose weight and become fitter.
I am going to aim to eat 5 portions of fruit or vegetables a day (a portion is approximately the size of a fist), drink 2 litres of water, and cut out the take-aways and processed food.
Before undertaking any diet it is always important to check with your doctor that you are doing the right thing.
As well as my fruit, vegetable and water intake I am going to make sure I still get all the healthy extras my body needs such as carbohydrates, protein, calcium, good fats and fibre so that I am not denying my body anything it needs to function properly.
I will even allow myself a little bit of chocolate once in a while!
