I went to the gym!

Posted by Liza Rowlands on January 2, 2008 7:36 PM |

I did it, it is only January 2nd and I have already been to the gym.
I find the easiest thing is to go straight from work, that way you are not tempted to flop on the couch or find any number of other things to do.

Obviously the gym was packed with people of all ages full of the same enthusiasm and determination as me. Wonder how many of us will still be going religiously at the end of March?
There is no need to be nervous or self conscious when you start going to the gym, 90 percent of people are so focused on their own excercise programme that the don't notice you and the other 10 percent are too focused on themselves in the mirror to notice you either!
It always amazes me how some girls can do a hour in the gym and their make-up and hair doesn't move an inch!
Exercising to music really helps you keep your pace and motivate you. "Chelsea Dagger" by the Fratellis is excellent running music.
Tonight I put my favourites on my ipod and spent twenty minutes on the cross-trainer (ideal for building up the muscles I will need for skiing) , twenty minutes on the treadmill and 20 minutes on the bike and burnt off nearly 500 calories! Fantastic!
I even enjoyed myself so will be back there on Friday.
